SSR owners living on the West side of the state don’t need to travel to Bronner’s in Frankenmuth to see awesome Christmas displays. No siree! Condo 405 owners Tony and Judy Bennett have a Christmas display at their home in Ionia that rivals the world famous Bronners… well almost! See for yourself. Tony and Judy put up 65,000 lights and about 200 figurines. The displays are nearly 500 feet wide and 700 feet deep in some places. They use over 400 cords of various sizes. They use eighteen 20 amp outside receptacles to power all of the displays. They used 197 amps last year, but are close to 220 amps this year. To secure the figures and displays against the wind and snow Tony and Judy pound rerod into the ground and use pull ties to secure them.
Some facts about the images below:
The sailboat is a picket fence on their mercury light pole;
The wagon is about 120 years old having wooden wheels with steel rings abound them;
Tony and Judy have spent about 5 weeks installing the lights and displays;
The wreath in the pictures is 6 feet tall and hangs about 20 feet in the air;
The crucifix is 16 feet tall;
The star is 7 feet tall and is suspended 50 feet in the air.
Thank you Tony and Judy for sharing your images and the spirit of Christmas with us. If you would like to send comments to Tony and Judy you can e-mail them at: tonybennett@hughes.net
You gotta have the tools to do the job. Loading up the figurines.
And this is what it looks like when finished.
This is my kind of ladder – installing the lights.
You can see some of the tree lights in the background.
Seven foot star, 50 feet off the ground.
Always on duty, protecting the displays.
If you have any Christmas, snowmobiling, or skiing images from SSR that you would like to share with other owners, please send them to: mmcclosk1@verizon.net

It was with the deepest regrets that the new SSR Board of Directors accepted the resignation of board member Randy Remenap from the Sunset Shores Resort Board of Directors. Randy served the Board with integrity and dedication since his election to the Board two years ago. He was elected Board vice-president at the organizational meeting of the Board held after the Annual Owner’s Meeting on November 7th. The Board unanimously appointed Gary Canfield to fill Randy’s term and position. While Gary had previously resigned from the Board many of the reasons that contributed to his resignation no longer exist. All the Board members have a deep respect for the dedication and insights that Gary will provide on behalf of all the owners. The following is a copy of Randy’s resignation letter to the Board.

Re: Resignation from Sunset Shores Resort Board of Directors
Date: November 13, 2009
Mike:
It is with deep regret that I must submit my resignation from the Board of Directors of Sunset Shores Resort Association. My current position at Grand Valley State University has placed more and more demands on my time that do not allow me to do justice to the owners of Sunset Shores Condominiums. These demands, plus being the care provider for my father and aunt who are in their 90’s, further limit my efforts on the Resort’s behalf.
At this time I feel very comfortable in leaving the Board as you and the current members of the Board have exhibited great leadership and dedication to our owners and their investment. When my time constraints are lessened I hope to be available to assist in any way I can.
Thank you.

Response to the Christmas party has been very light. In an attempt to generate more participation, people can still rsvp to the party by calling Amanda at the SSR office: 888-876-2300. Additionally they can pay for their dinner upon arrival. And if that wasn’t enough, even if it isn’t your weekend Amanda still has condos available. So c’mon – get in the spirit of the season by sharing a weekend with fellow owners and their families.

Attached is some of the info for the Annual Meeting. The 2010 budget is still a proposed budget, it has not yet gone to the Board of Directors for confirmation. If you have questions please give me a call. There is also a correction on the date of the Owners’ Christmas party. The Notice states the 7th of December when in fact it is scheduled for the 5th, sorry for the confusion.

If you will not be able to attend the Owners’ Meeting at 9:00 am on Saturday November 7th 2009 there will be an election for three seats on the Board of Directors. After a review of the Condo Docs it was determined that with the recent additions to our ownership base the co-owners receive an additional seat on the Board. This brings the co-owner representation to five seats and the Developer’s seats down to two. Your Board Members are elected to a three year term. I am attaching a proxy ballot that you may print and send to me. You will also be receiving one in the mail. Please check back here for a copy of the agenda and a 2010 proposed budget.
